Has anyone used or heard about ContactOut?

I haven't, but I do use Lead411.com. They are pretty good. Almost every record has an email. Also, use your library card and try Reference USA. Not a very clean interface or download format, but a HUGE wealth of information beyond your basic contact stuff. Very light on the emails. But once you figure out the email naming convention, you are on your way. (Of course you knew that already!)

Helpful hint. Clear your browser cache when you achieve your download limits.

I just got an email on my work account (not what I use for my login here) that says:
Hi RoyGBiv76 (it doesn't say that - it has my real name),
I wanted to reach out and let you know that Data.com is shutting down this May. Are you currently using this product?
If so, here are some things you should do prior to the shutdown:
Hopefully that was helpful. Feel free to reach out if you’d like any additional resources.
If you’re interested in trying out the free leads, please let me know!

"...Your lead vendor choice should have less than a 10% bounce rate..."
1. The growth in 'accept all" mail servers complicates this.
2. I find there is an inverse relationship between the "accuracy" of an information vendors' claim, and their real-world results. In other words, the more I hear "95% accuracy", the more I believe is probably more like 50%...
While many of us here - me included - railed against the old contests that had targets for net adds "we are at 10 million!, we are at 11 million!", the fact is any database degrades the moment it is crystallized. Annual turnover across all employment is at least 7%, and when you consider the lower turnover is large areas of the economy - like the government - you realize the private sector number is easily 10%+. what that means is that the larger the data base, and the constant upgrading by a community is/was not such a bad idea.

I'm interested to know how he found me. This is an email address I had associated with my account years ago, but otherwise there's no connection between the email address I have tied to my login and the email address he contacted.
