At Data.com, and throughout Salesforce, trust is #1. We’ve invested heavily in creating a product that you can trust, one of the biggest advantages of the new Data.com Connect website. Because of the powerful platform it’s built on, Connect is faster and more reliable than ever before.

It has been many months in the making, and with the latest release, company updates are finally here! Now, you can update companies that have a small number of contacts on Connect, and that’s just the beginning. In our next releases, we’ll be introducing even more functionality around company updates.

In this post, I want to highlight improvements we’ve made to one feature that is deservedly near-and-dear to you - royalty ownership. Royalty ownership is awarded when you add a contact to Connect or when you change a contact's key information, and as the royalty owner, you earn a point every time another member purchases your contact. If another community member changes the contact’s key information, then they become the royalty owner.
Did you know that around 90% of the contacts added to Data.com Connect come from files added by the community, vs those added one-by-one? Getting new, fresh data is really important to continue to provide quality data to our members, so we strive to make this process easy.
If you’ve been keeping an eye on The Corner for more information about what’s been happening with our new site, I have some exciting news to share. Here at Data.com, we have been working very hard to set the next milestone in the journey of our site evolution, and the results are now ready for you to enjoy.
When the engineering team started building the new website, improving the contact export functionality was a key focus area for us because we understand quick and easy access to the data is important to you.

I hope you are enjoying our blog series - featuring product managers and engineers - that focuses on the enhancements to the new site that are resulting from the great feedback we received from you. Today, let’s discuss how we made it easier for you to export the contacts you want to a CSV file.
From reading the MIX, discussions on The Corner, and our conversations with you, we understand that a direct dial number is much more valuable to you than a generic company switchboard number. To that end, we’ve made two very important changes on the new website to give you more access to direct dial phone numbers.
In building a new website for you, we’ve put a lot of emphasis on improving the bulk contribution flow, which allows you to add an entire file of contacts to the website at once. With the first new website release, we tackled the speed and performance, and in the February release, we focused on fraud detection and data verification.
In our previous release, names of contacts were cut off after a certain character length. An ellipsis was used at the end to indicate that the names had been shortened. Now, we wrap the names of contacts if they are too long.

The best place to go for information about any new or updated features on the new site is our Beta Central page. This is the one central page where you'll find all our self-help resources. If you're stuck, have a question, or just want a better understanding of how something works, chances are you'll find the answer here.
Export to Outlook is a popular feature on the Jigsaw website, and we wanted to bring the same functionality to our new website. It allows you to export a business card you own and import it directly into your favorite email client.
One of the most common requests from this community following the beta launch was to add a button on the contact card that would allow you to “Search this contact on LinkedIn.” When you click this button, we’ll perform a search on LinkedIn for the contact, and if they have a profile, we’ll bring you right to it.

User Experience, or “UX,” is a hot term these days, used by lots of companies to show that they are learning how customers use their products so they can improve and enable their customers to be more successful. Some places do a great job with this; others are still trying. I chose to work as a User Researcher with Data.com because I was so impressed by the amount of focus and priority put on UX design and research as part of the development process. Over time, I have come to see my role largely as user advocate, and I’m glad to now be advocating for you.

When you last heard from me in December, we were hard at work building a better website for you. We’re still focused on that same goal, and today, I am pleased to tell you about our latest update to the new website, which was released over the weekend.
