Welcome to the first, hopefully annual, Jigsaw/Data.com “Virtual” Christmas party.

Now I know you’re probably a little skeptical right now.  After all who has experienced a “Virtual” Christmas party before?   Well no one yet actually.  So right now, as of this moment you are an internet “explorer” of sorts.

First off we must set the mood.  I am hoping that you have sound capabilities on the computer you’re currently using, because the Christmas music that will be playing in the background will be key to enjoying the whole experience.

So at this point to get the music set up please open up this url  in a new window, make sure you can hear the music, and then come back here to the “Virtual” Christmas Party.   Here is the url you will need.

http://www.myfreenetradio.com/player/player.php?station=christmas&embed=true

Glad you made it back.   Now that you have the music, we need to set a common location where most people have been or if not, most people can easily imagine similar surroundings.   For convenience, since quite a few of us made it to Vegas last year, let’s check back into Diablo’s where a good time was had by all!     For those of you who weren’t in Vegas, think of a local bar that has a dance floor and would have an area where food is served.

Remember Diablo’s?   If so, you are now walking through the double door entrance.   To the far left corner where the palm reader and tarot card reader were, there’s now a huge fireplace, a gigantic brightly decorated Christmas tree and beside it a big old arm chair where Santa (that’s me) will be sitting in just a minute or two, so feel free to drop on over anytime, sit on my knee and tell me what you want for Christmas.

Right in front of you is the main open bar where you can order your favorite drink and chat with friends.   Past the bar and up a few steps is the dance floor, and at the far side of the dance floor is the buffet table where the buffet table is set up.    So if you’ve brought your favorite dish you’ll want to announce what dish you have brought before setting it on one of the tables at the back.  Just like real office parties, remember that the first year is when personal traditions are established and some of your Jigsaw colleagues will be disappointed if you don’t bring your signature dish each and every year hereafter.   At the very back of the dance floor to the right is a narrow hallway that leads to the restrooms.   The mistletoe has been strategically placed just in front of the hallway, so watch your step.

Now, before you go and start enjoying the festivities a quick word about communications.   At a real Christmas Party we would have the dimension of physical space to work with.   You’d be able to walk up to whomever you want and start a conversation.   Here at our “virtual” Christmas Party, that may be a bit of problem for most of us.   So if you are dimensionally challenged like me, you will want to use the at sign “@” to call someone out as it were.   For example, if you want a drink from the bar start a new conversation by replying to this main message with @bartender, and one of our bartenders will assist you by responding to your message, creating a sub-thread.  Likewise watch for any message threads starting with @ and then your user name and try to respond to all of them.  Want to join any conversation simply reply to that individual post rather than starting a new conversation from the main thread.    Want to shout out to all?    Simply type “@ALL”  then type your message as you regularly would.  Want to sit on Santa’s knee to tell him want you for Christmas, ask him about your future or just chat for a bit, just type “@Santa” before your regular post.

Well that’s about it…    thanks for coming out, so go on in and enjoy the festivities!    Merry Christmas!!!

@all

I will be in the lounge flirting with that cute waitress. Let me know when the rest of the party gets here.

My daddy always told me to be just like a duck. Stay smooth on the surface and paddle like the devil underneath!!!!!

Testing testing testing....  is this mic on?

@bartender can I please get a Corona Light? Don't forget the Lime... It's a little early here on the West Coast, but it's 5 o'clock somewhere. Smiley Happy

@all.

As an Ambassador for Maker's Mark bourbon, I will be offering a wonderful, Perfect Manhattan to any and all who would care to partake. Have one, relax, and let's have a great party. I hope you're not planning on virtually driving, by the way. If so, don't virtually consume too much.

@ALL

Let's add a little tension to the festivities shall we???   Ever want to become part of a FLASH MOB.    Well in a way …    now you can!   But instead of being jammed into one location somewhere… our virtual FLASH MOB is going to be spread out amongst several offices and cubicles internationally.

So here is the deal.    Below are the lyrics for a “Jigsaw” version of “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”   Hokey?   I know.    Since we have no control of the music that is being played during our event it might not even happen.    But here is the deal ok?   If or when the “Twelve Days of Christmas” plays during our virtual Christmas Party…   I want you to turn your computer speakers way up, then stand up and sing along using the Jigsaw Lyrics.   It doesn’t matter whether you’re tuning us in from your office, your home office, your iPhone in the middle of a restaurant!   This is the one time you have the chance to do something completely spontaneous!   And here’s the best part!   While you’re singing along, keep an ear out for someone singing the same tune!     And if that happens?  Guess what?   You’ve just found another Jigsaw user!    Let’s see OneSource/iSell have anywhere close to that much fun!    By the way, we did officially finish in Third in the Top Sales & Marketing Awards: Top Sales Productivity Tool Category.  And the results can be seen here:

@all

I remember Diablo's well. I remember stating several times over that I didn't think there was any alcohol in the margarita's. After the tenth one, I felt every bit of the alcohol in them! Ouch. Shortly afterward, Hecko and I decided it would be a good idea to jump into a cab, head over to Circus Circus and play $5 blackjack. I broke my three tenets of gambling. 1) don't be drunk 2) set a time limit 3) set a loss limit.

Oops. I was drunk, sat a table until 2 in the morning, I think, and lost all my winnings plus some.

Hey, hey, my, my, this Jigsaw MVP will never die. It's better to burn out, than it is to rust.

@Baguba

Thanks for coming out Baguba!

It doesn't look like you're getting anywhere with that cute waitress!     Care to be the first to sit on Santa's knee and tell everyone else what you want for Christmas?
