I was at the bank and mentioned to the teller Have you ever consider sales? And she replied right back "NO, I can't deal with rejection"
I feel that less than 1% of the human race can do high level sales i.e. telemaketing or reading off a script
You have to have the ability to take rejection, be able to talk and converse in an intelligent manner, be persuasive, have the energy to engage, bring a value proposition, have them trust you, then they actually take action are the reasons 99.9% of humans can’t do high level sales for an extended period.

There's a misconception that the general public has when it comes to salespeople and "sales jobs". They think that these people are liars and will say anything to get you to spend money. Well, I admit there are definitely salespeople like this however, it's not every case. I remember a former boss pointed out something I used to tell my customers to get their walls down that she was really impressed with: "I just wanted to introduce myself to you, please know that my job is to provide you with all the information you need to help you make the best buying decision today. I will be available to you so please let me know of any questions at all I can answer for you, if you stump me then I know exactly who to turn to and get you the information you need."
A fear of rejection is a very real thing though. One thing that I learned to quickly overcome this is to believe in the product or service you are selling. If I can genuinely tell myself that I am simply trying to fulfill customers' wants and needs fear of rejection is just an after thought, when it happens, I just move on to the next call. Plenty of fish in the sea!
