6 months into a new job and an old territory. Some of it is very lucrative.. but other stuff is OLD. I started keeping a list of leads that my previous co workers had been calling / emailing on and NEVER have gotten an order or even in some cases, no reply.
some of these date back to the 1980's! Now while that decade was a fun time for some of us (cough) i've started marking those dead leads and taking them out of my call rotation. My boss was concerned about this.
when you decide to cut the cord? land the plane? draw the line? kick the bucket? stop beating a dead horse?
... go ahead, join in.

When i first started with my current company, we were starting a new sales division and my first responsibility was to comb through 5-10 year old leads and see if there was anything worthwhile that had been overlooked or not prospected properly. Of the hundreds (thousands?) of leads I was working on, I did actually find a few golden nuggets, but most were a waste of time.

That is a perfect example of why you are cleaning up your leads lists. Boss should be happy for that, not concerned.
