I have worked in enterprise marketing in Europe and the USA for over 15 years and holds two Master’s degrees. Although I was born and raised in Germany, Silicon Valley is now my home. My first marketing job was an internship at HP in Palo Alto; it was the time when HP was alive and the Dot.com boom was in full bloom. I was hooked and moved to California shortly after.
My transition into social media was actually an accident. I took a partner marketing job at SAP, which turned into a social media marketing role the day I joined. When I started at SAP, social media was completely new, so we had the luxury to experimenting and learning as it evolved. It was a great experience and I was hooked.
A few years ago, I decided to start MarketingXLerator, a marketing consultancy with a focus on impacting business via social media. It’s been a crash course in sales, client management, administration, and project management, but my business is built on referrals and I feel blessed to have wonderful clients and peers to work with.
Currently I’m teaching Advanced Social Media Marketing at UCSC Extension Silicon Valley and it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. One of my main hobbies is yoga. It provides a wonderful balance to my hectic Silicon Valley life. A few years ago I became certified as a teacher and now teach around 2-3 classes a week.
