There have been times that I have lost royalty ownership on a contact, because I entered a physical address for the contact, and someone else comes along behind me and changes it to a PO Box. I've also had the opposite happen, where I have entered a mailing address, and someone else changes it to a physical address.
Both addresses are valid- so who should receive the points? I don't recall seeing anything that specifies which address to enter physical or mailing. So- which one should be entered & how do you regain lost points for a correct address? Should there be 2 address options- one for entering a mailing address and one for a physical address?
Should this be posted to the idea exchange?

this is most likely someone thinking they are doing right, but it could be someone that needs to be educated. If you see the user is doing it repeatedly to different companies report it to a DD or jigsaw support.
address line 2 is the appropriate place for the PO Box, correct address line 1 data should never be replaced with po box data.
What about SUITE/APT/ CONDO? Yeah that can go in address line 2 if there is no PO Box, otherwise it goes at the end of address line 1.
This is all in the USPS regs, which is how the OCR encoders at the post office are programmed, so it isn't up for discussion.

Updating the mailing address is a minor update, and you shouldn't have lost royalty. Royalty should only change for a major update, like email address, adding a direct phone number, updating last name, title if it changes level or department, graveyard/ungraveyard. For a minor update, it's kind of annoying to change it back and forth, but you aren't losing points.
Are you sure there wasn't another update made at the same time that would've been a major update?
