When I input the e-mail address of a contact and I get the message "This contact is already in our database" I no longer have the option to add a direct dial that I have. Why is this the case? How would I go about attempting to add a direct dial?

@WarmWager87, I recall that message occurs if you are trying to add a new contact and its already in the database. It usually occurs when a contact is already in the database but deactivated. Did you try searching by the email address in the main search window and clicking view deactivated contacts? Then revive the contact and update the phone number as usual.

No it's still an active contact. The inactive ones are usually greyed out with a strike through. These are active contacts. There's just no longer an option for update business card.

I would love to know if anyone received instructions on this query as I've just encountered the same problem. Inserted email, already exists, but wanted to add direct dial office number.

You can add 'location' to this problem. The card I am looking at right now has the location as 'Florence KY', her signature has her in Tuscaloosa AL. I cannot change this on the contact card without purchasing it first.

@TheHammers, @AlanSmithee is correct, you will need to purchase the contact first to perform this update. You will earn back the points you spend by updating the contact. And because the update your looking to make is major, this will make you the Royalty Owner, so you will earn 1 point every time another member purchases the contact in future. Hope this helps!

@EmailBandsDC - I gotcha. The one flaw I realized is that I have to purchase the contact to 'view' the phone number. So until I do that, I don't know if my direct line is already loaded or not. Obviously it's not the same problem with the address as that's already visible and I don't mind purchasing/updating to get back the points. Thanks for taking the time to answer earlier; it's greatly appreciated.

@TheHammers if you're looking to add a direct dial and wonder if there's already a direct dial listed, there is an indicator in the language on the contact card. If there is a direct dial for the contact, before purchase the contact card will say "Get this contact's direct dial and email". If there's a just business phone number listed, it will say "Get this contact's phone and email."
