I've been thinking the same thing. I keep getting invitations to golf with customers, but I have no idea how. I have a set of clubs and I'm hoping to hit the driving range a few times this summer. From what I've seen, most of golf is yelling obscenities and breaking clubs, but I hear it's a great bonding experience.

what other kinds of physical activities have you tried with customers? I've gone bowling with customers before. As long as nobody takes it too seriously, bowling is a great bonding activity.

it definitely works, golf that is. What is interesting is that you usually don't discuss business on the golf course, not like in the movies. That kind of thing is done afterward at the bar..... I think true golfers enjoy the bonding aspect of the game....
I never good get a handle on the game, and it's a real disadvantage in sales.

It really depends on what you sell and how your business is done. If you are trying to build a relationship with you clients, then this can be a very effective way of achieving that.
As someone else already mentioned, business is not usually discussed on the course. It is all about getting to know your clients and them getting to know you.
CAUTION: If you are not a golfer, I would not recommend this. You may harm your efforts to build that relationship. The clients may get extremely frustrated with you, especially if they are more serious about the game.
CAUTION: Your clients will judge you by the way you act on the course and how you play the game. I recommend that you play by the strict rules of the game and follow proper course etiquette if you want to make a good impression.

good call @TallZeal81. If you were on the fence about doing business with someone, and saw them lose their mind over a bad shot, you would definitely have second thoughts...
