I still do it, because it does work, but statistically, it's a waste of time. Nobody picks up the phone anymore, CFO's are buried in their offices, able to see who is calling by Caller ID, email, texting, they don't USE THE PHONE much, even old school people learned to use the technology.
The only solution is to MEET MORE PEOPLE! Make connections, get out to events, talk to your doctors, neighbors, church friends....friends of friends.................just meet more people.

The subject line immediately reminded me of the song, "Video Killed the Radio Star". It was the first music video ever played on MTV (Music Televison), waaaaaay back when MTV was relevant and broadcast music videos.
Fast forward a couple of decades (+/- a decade) and I never watch MTV and I just renewed my Sirius XM radio subscription in order to listen to my favorite music on the road or catching up with the news. Incidentally, I can't remember the last time I watched a music video. Things that make you go, hmmm.....

i do still call because my (manufacuring) business is still a bit of a good ole boys club.
but - after the relationship is established, with the right contact, i will email them, and give them a break of hearing my lovely voice. they do respond but only once they know me.
