I remember seeing no solicitation signs when I did outside sales and I was told to walk right in by my sales manager which I considered rude.
I don't leave VMs in cases where the DM says not to.

When I had a job that required canvassing by foot I did the same thing - I ignored "no solicitation" signs and walked right past security desks every day. I brought in some very real business that way - if you can exude confidence people assume you belong and nobody asks questions. I don't know if I've ever had a DM ask me not to leave a voicemail, though...

I know that was the standard protocol in outside sales but didn't you run into someone who says "Don't you see the no solicitation sign outside?" Do you want me to call the cops?"
Anyway I quit outside sales pretty quickly as trying to find parking was too much of a hassle for me lol.
I sometimes hear on VM "If you are a salesperson leaving a VM DONT" so I don't. I don't want some irate DM calling me back.

I never had anyone throw me out, but I used to leave cards behind and I had people call me and threaten to call the cops. Nobdy ever did, and our sales manager thought it was funny and showed proof that we were actually out canvassing.

This is the reason I think you are more of a born salesperson than I am. Those things I could tolerate but didn't want to. I didn't want anyone yelling or threatening me. I remember one of my sales friends said he got forcibly removed many times at his sales job and also threatened bodily harm. That's not for me.

one of the best sales i ever participated in came from me strolling past a security desk and turnstile. it turned into an enormous opportunity - unfortunately the customer was finally ready to finalize a week after I left the company...

Been there done that. Big deal closing after my exit! That does suck and no they do not call you to make things right.
I used to do door to door (B2B) sales - my clients were car dealers, you want to talk about tought. Closing a closer! I could do it, but I really didnt' enjoy it, pretty stressful.

Could you imagine if you had to do door to door door sales and deal with a door salesman? You would both be opening and trying to close door sales and then it would be like the Abbott and Costello Who's on First bit for sales!
