I usually ask Did I get you at a good time but now I to add for a sales call ending.

I know this breaks all rules of effective sales but I'm always game to try new ways to sell.

@LionoverLamb, I'm interested to hear if your technique has gotten you any success.

I try to avoid asking yes or no questions myself. I feel that if I ask a question that can be answered by "No" then it will happen and it's rarely the answer that we want to hear as cold callers. There are a few exceptions of course. Generally speaking though, I try to ask open ended questions or questions that I know the prospect will answer "yes" to.

@DualAlbum84

I did it with one person yesterday and he said: It's never a good time for a sales call.

Suffice to say it didn't go well.

But on a later call, I actually got a positive response as he said he liked the fact I said I was selling him and I got to my point quickly.

I know you are not suppose to ask closed ended questions and also not say "Yes, it is a sales call" or ask" Did I catch you at a good time" but I do all of the above and then some since I like doing sales my way.

If you ask close end questions you usually get a yes or no.

Is this a good time to call?

NO

bye bye...

This is a very dumb question! Skip it! Together with asking them if they have time for x?

Both invite a No. Just pitch em!
