I know this sounds strange but I like to do better mouse trap sales and life in general. In essence you will never get perfection in sales or life but if you keep thinking, analyzing, taking action, failing, getting back up and trying with more thought behind it you will get the results usually that you are seeking.
As an example for the past six months I've incorporated this into my sales. Instead of just cold calling, I decided to look at the psychology of decision makers and what makes them potentially listen to you. Also, I did way more research than ever, looking for areas that others did not seek. Then I got into my suit, drove to Boston, Rochester, Detroit and Albany. Showed my face, did my stand up comedy sales, got noticed and did the follow ups all of which I used to detest but I actually enjoy now. Put face to name is something I wasn't applying enough. Also, noticed I was a minority so finally said and I quote "let me utilize the minority certified angle and sign up for them." Then I read certain companies offer bonuses to their employees who use an MBE. So there it is in a nutshell combine all of that to make sales much easier than I used to as in the past I followed the sales sheep.
In a nutshell for me the better mouse trap sales(to be trademarked so I make gazillions) is be the best entrepreneurial salesperson as I noticed most entrepreneurs business owners are not really good at sales and be the smartest salesperson.
Is sales the most challenging profession out there? I would say so if you do it like every salesperson does or you do better mouse trap sales like moi. Ciao Francesco Rinaldi!
